Mollye Asher is a New York-based producer and two-time Spirit Award Nominee. With a keen eye for identifying emerging auteur talent, she has produced debut films that have premiered at the top film festivals worldwide.
She is the producer of the 2014 SXSW Grand Jury Prize winner, FORT TILDEN, by writer/ director team, Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers. FORT TILDEN was released theatrically by MGM/ Orion. Mollye is also the producer Anja Marquardt’s SHE’S LOST CONTROL, (Monument Releasing) which premiered at the 2014 Berlinale and won the CICAE award. SHE’S LOST CONTROL was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards: Best First Feature and Best First Screenplay. Mollye produced Chloé Zhao’s first feature SONGS MY BROTHERS TAUGHT ME, which premiered in US competition at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and had its international premiere in Cannes’ Director’s Fortnight. The film was nominated for three 2016 Independent Spirit Awards: Best Cinematography, Best First Feature and Someone to Watch and was released in France by Diaphana and domestically by Kino Lorber. Most recently, she produced Zhao’s sophomore feature, THE RIDER, which premiered in the 2017 Directors Fortnight at Cannes where it took home top prize, the Art Cinema Award. THE RIDER was sold to Sony Pictures Classics.
Mollye is an alumna of the Film Independent Producing Lab and Film Independent Fast Track program, IFP’s Narrative Lab, the Transatlantic Partnership and she earned her MFA from NYU’s Graduate Film program.
